COVID-19 Updates

FROM OUR CEO

Friends,

Like many of you, we have been closely monitoring the impact COVID-19 is having on our community’s physical and economic well-being. After careful consideration, we have made the decision to temporarily suspend Madison Ballet’s operations on Friday, April 3rd. Though this is a difficult choice to make now, we do so in order to be as healthy an organization as possible--both physically and financially--for our future.

Once we have established a timeline to resume operations, we will happily reach out to share the good news. For now, please be patient when trying to contact Madison Ballet. The majority of our staff will be furloughed during this interim period, and are eager to resume the work they care so deeply about.

When we return, our stages will be full of awe-inspiring movement. Our classrooms will be alive with students learning the invaluable lessons that come from dance training.

In the meantime, our 39th season is already being planned and our students will be receiving regular remote classes for free, prepared by our brilliant School Director, Rachelle Butler. You can find these classes on our social media channels.

We are so grateful to all of you who have shown your support. In a matter of days, we were overwhelmed with the generosity of those that chose to donate the value of their tickets to A Midsummer Night’s Dream or their children’s tuition to our school. Others have simply been inspired to give directly to ensure that when we return, we won’t miss a beat. Thank you for the many ways you support this essential art and the hard-working people who make it possible.

These are trying times for all us all. When we get through this, which we will, it will be because people united to make considerable sacrifices for the whole of our society. There will be no better way to celebrate that inevitable victory than by dancing. We can’t wait to share that moment with you.

Be well.
