Lift Every Voice 2021: Virtual Dance Production

Madison Ballet is taking ballet beyond the stage to create a one-of-a-kind virtual dance experience. Three choreographers, Kia Smith, Rachelle Fochs, and Jacob Ashley, are each paired with a filmmaker to bring a new work to life in the form of three short films.

The three ballets in this production provide choreographers of color, filmmakers and dancers the opportunity to create, collaborate and share their experiences, forging pathways for those artists who follow. 

Grounded in classical dance, these works only hint at the visions of Sugar Plums most of us think of when we hear the word "ballet." The film medium gives the choreographers and dancers a wonderful tool, allowing them to bring imagination to life in a reality that, until now, could only be dreamed.
