Wisconsin orchestra's ‘Davis & Dvořák’ dances into Capitol Theater
“Oliver Davis’ music is lyrical, lending itself to dance.
‘It’s tuneful, it’s cerebral, it’s emotional,” said maestro Andrew Sewell, who leads the Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra. I’m very excited to see what Ja’s choreographed for it.’
Ja is Ja’ Malik, artistic director of Madison Ballet, which will collaborate with the chamber orchestra at a joint concert on Friday, Feb. 28, in the Capitol Theater. “Davis & Dvořák” is the third concert in the orchestra’s 2024-25 Masterworks performance series, featuring music from composers Oliver Davis and Antonín Dvořák.”
